While there has been enough amount of guesswork over who would do Munnabhai Sequel featuring Sanjay Dutt, the actor confirms that he will indeed be doing the third installment directed by Raj Kumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
According to Dutt, Munnabhai Chale Amerika is expected to hit floors by the December 2010. “The scripting is going on. Raju (Hirani) called me up and spoke to me about it. The shooting will begin at the end of this year.”
As for the delay in the movie’s shooting, Sanjay Dutt said, , “Munnabhai got delayed a little bit because they wanted to make another film (3 Idiots). Munnabhai will never die. It’s just something beyond cinema because people have taken this film close to their hearts.” Sanjay Dutt puts Vaastav’s Raghu character as his best performance while Munnabhai series as his best roles.
Dutt stresses that the Munnabhai character is his favorite character among all the role he has played. “The kind of love and affection I have received from the people after essaying Munnabhai’s character is unbelievable and something I can never forget! I think people connect to the goodness and simplicity of Munnabhai and that’s why for me too it was a wonderful character to enact,” smiles the hunky actor.
Sanjay Dutt even has a thing to say about why The Hurt Locker set in the middle-east won Oscar for the best movie toppling India’s favorite Avatar “”Avatar had content with effects. It was a love story with action and drama. But The Hurt Locker is about what happens in war and what a soldier goes through. It was a difficult choice for the Oscar jury to choose the best picture but they rightly picked The Hurt Locker.”
