Amitabh Bachchan says “Paul the Octopus is a Sham”

Paul the Octopus is the most talked about topic in the world for the week. While the Spanish Prime Minister has assured round-the-clock tight security to Paul, the Germans would love to kill it.  India’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan, on his blog, has chosen to slam the resident of Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany, calling the aquatic’s prediction, a mere fluke.

Big B is not clearly impressed by Paul. He writes, “Germany lost late in to the night/early morning our time, and the surprise of the predictions of the Octopus Paul have brought superstition right onto the front pages. The octopus had predicted a Spanish victory and so it was. This is quite amazing and ridiculous at the same time…. The Germans are wanting to eat up this octopus with gallons of beer! Incredible!,”

Big B hints that Indians are also superstitious about a lot of things. He talks about a lady journalist who had asked him about his fascination with sapphire rings to which the actor replied, “‘Dear Maam… you are a lady, I am a man, can we not bring a ring between us!!'” and added on his blog, “Huge laughter! Topic over, PC over but that lingering feeling that astrology and superstition held sway even in the minds of spectators.”

Big  B also wrote at length about how the media had hyped his his daughter-in -law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s marriage to a tree to ward off Ash’s perceived omen of being a Manglik. He criticized the media for going overboard with the news.

“Aishwarya and Abhishek marriage, and they marry her off to a tree to ward off ‘mangalik’ omen. Where on earth do they concoct such stories! Millions of media forum clarifications later, they still seek an answer to it. “They obsess over it because a juicy story suddenly lost its ground when truth prevailed. They design a story of a simple visit to a temple as being the motive for clearing Aishwarya’s bad omen. They get eminent writers to condemn this horrid act of superstition, even when they know that their facts are all wrong. Why? Why must they waste such a large amount of news print and paper over superstition?” Big B wrote.
