Sameera Reddy Talks About Red Alert

We all know that Sunil Shetty has given his career best performance in Red Alert-The War Within. The other person in the film with a knock-out performance is Sameera Reddy. The actress has not worn any makeup nor has used any trend outfits, it is her most de-glam avatar ever. Sameera Reddy confesses that she has no inkling about the Maoist problem in the country while she signed the film.

“The script was really appealing since it dealt with an issue. I was not aware of the Naxalite movement a-year-and-a-half ago. I want to dedicate myself towards it now,” Sameera, 27, told IANS. Sameera Reddy adds “A transition from a simple girl to a Naxalite and picking up guns and fighting was difficult. It was also not easy to shoot in the jungles,” she said.

Sameera Reddy who started her career in the Pankaj Udhar music video, ‘Aur Aahista’ debuted in the movie ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’ opposite Sohail khan. Then she went on to do sexy and glamorous roles in movies like Musafir, Taxi No 9211, Race etc among many. But this is the first time, she is doing a serious performance oriented role, a break-away from the usual modern roles that she is seen in. Was there a conscious thought to change her glam image? Sameera replies, “It’s not a conscious decision to change my image through the film. I did it because the role was appealing and challenging,”

Sameera Reddy has loved every moment of making the movie with co-stars Seema and Suniel Shetty. She smiles, “I got to learn a lot from Seema. Hanging out on the sets with her was a great learning experience. I also spent time with Suniel. We have done work together before, so the comfort level was always there.” Red Alert-The War Within, that is aptly timed has been getting a lot of good reviews. It is the story about a cook who falls into a Naxalite trap. The movie releases on July 9,2010 and costars Suniel Shetty, Vinod Khanna, Seema Biswas and Gulshan Grover among others.

Sameera Reddy has a secret professional desire too. “I want to play a double role I have never done it before but I would love to play a double role in a film. That’s my dream role. Lets see when that happens.” Sameera Reddy who believes in competing with herself only has another interesting movie lined up after Red Alert; it is Nagesh Kukunoor’s Yeh Hausla.
