Ram Gopal Varma Unperturbed by Death Threats, Does Not Accept Security

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma is unfazed by the death threats that have begun since he has started promoting Rakta Charitra. He is visiting his mother in Hyderabad and does not care much about the threat, so much that he has not even asked for security cover.

On a practical note, Ram Gopal Varma said, “This is not the first time I’m under threat. It has happened to me on several occasions. When in the history of assassinations have security guards been able to save anyone? The one who is determined to kill you will do.”

The controversy is actually over an alleged law-breaker Ubala Reddy, whose portrayal has not gone down well with his supporters. Ramu says, “They’ve sent a long legal notice in which they express their misgivings about Ubala Reddy. But I want to know how they know how I’ve portrayed the character (played by Abhimanyu Singh) when they haven’t seen a single frame?” He adds that no arm-twisting approach can change his mind. “They’re welcome to do what they like. My film remains unchanged.”
