The song D.K.Bose has been making news and the views are divided. While a huge segment of population (read: the youth), quite a few are having problems with the song; some from within the industry too, like Ra. One director, Anubhav Sinha. He had said that the song was vulgar for children und the years of 13 and it was irresponsible move on producer Aamir Khan to back that song.
Kiran Rao, Aamir’s wife and producer-director of Dhobi Ghaat, says that there is nothing wrong with the song. She said, “I don’t think there is anything wrong with the song. It has funny lyrics; it is a fun song about a person called DK Bose. He is a loser whining about everything around him. It is just a funny take on life. How can anybody have problem with it?” She adds, “But still, if someone has a problem, just don’t listen to the song.”
Mrs. Khan does not think that the lyrics can negatively impact underage audience if the song is played on TV channels and radio during the day. She emphasized, , “I think the songs in our Hindi films are a reflection of the present. Of the way we think, speak and the words we use. That’s perhaps why more and more songs nowadays have bolder lyrics. Yesteryear poetry has taken a backseat.”
