The timing of Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard has been perfect. Released on Eid, the movie has amassed a staggering Rs. 22 crore in the first day itself The festival has been the luckiest day for Sallu for the past three years, Wanted (2009) and Dabangg(2010) also released on Eid. The film embarked on a 100 percent collection in several places while in some other, it was above 95 percent. Though trade guides expected that the film would touch Rs.15 crore on the first day, at the rate at which the movie is galloping, the film should be crossing Rs. 20 crore on the very first day itself.
In Mumbai, Fun Cinemas’ head of operations Vishal Anand, said, “This has to be the highest-ever opening in Bollywood, beating Dabbang by nearly 15% or so. Bodyguard should be able to net Rs. 70 crore due to the five day weekend due to the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. It is on the verge of making a record in Bollywood,” he concluded.
