Arshad Warsi in Golmaal 3

After dilly-dallying a lot, the news is finally out that Arshad Warsi has consented to be a part of Golmaal 3. Director Rohit Shetty who has the habit of giving hits every Diwali since 2007(Golmaal (2006), Golmaal Returns(2008), All the Best(2009))has told the media that Arshad is a part of the new movie. After Ishqiya’s hit, Arshad Warsi began to ask for higher fee and is only keen to do lead roles or parallel roles. Producers Ashtavinayak are said to have relented and agreed to pay his asking fees, a whopping Rs. 3 crores for his role in Golmaal 3.

Says a source, “Arshad after Ishqiya was adamant on his fee. The producers tried to convince him to take a much smaller fee arguing that his co-stars Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor and Kunal Khemu (who replaces Sharman Joshi) were accepting a far smaller fee and if Arshad was paid 3 crores, the other actors would feel short-changed.” Arshad stuck to his guns. It is also believed that Sharman Joshi turned down Golmaal 3 because he started asking for high fees (Rs.2.5 crores) after his 3 Idiots glory. Says Rohit Shetty, “Even before the scripting of Golmaal 3, Sharman sent me a message through his secretary saying he had other plans. I immediately looked for a replacement and am very happy with Kunal Khemu. Any regrets about Sharman? None at all. In fact we met at the airport recently and there wasn’t any mention of Golmaal 3.” Though we know who Rohit Shetty is referring to, he did say, “, “There’re lots of very talented actors out here who are fabulous side attractions but can never be the main course.” Looks like the producers could afford to leave Sharman because he was in any case, not there in Golmaal Returns
