The brilliant kid of Bollywood, Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel Safary is no longer a child because he has turned teenager. Yes, the boy has turned 13 on March 9, 2010. The biggest relief for the adorable child is that people will refrain from pulling his cheeks. Darsheel giggles, “I am now legally at an age when any kind of physical contact is forbidden.”
Darsheel has been studying with total dedication for his exam. So there was no birthday party as such and surprisingly, no one from Bollywood, include the senior and junior members of the iconic movie Taare Zameen Par, even bothered or rather remembered to wish him. But that does not really affect the boy as he is happy to be with his family. “It doesn’t matter if there’s no big party. I had a big celebration last year. And I still have a hangover. I’ve been studying very hard for my exams, and have no time for fun. So even my friends wished me in school only.”
How did Darsheel celebrate his birthday? “In the morning, I cut a cake and I went to the temple. Then I fed grass to a cow. That’s an annual ritual. It’s supposed to bring good luck. This year, I hope to continue doing good work and make my parents proud.”
Darsheel’s second movie is due to release and after his exams, he will be preparing for an intense promotion and marketing of his second movie called Zokkoman. “In Zokkomon, I again play the main character. So I’ll have to do all the interviews. Then I’ll have no time for studies.” Whether he signs films in the future would depend entirely on the kind of roles on offer. “After Taare Zameen Par and Zokkomon, I can’t just play the hero’s son. I leave the decision on what to do with my father.”
