Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar to rock on in Action Replay

Vipul Shah, producer-director is very excited because he has got the most beautiful and talented actors of them all, Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar in Action Replayy. Though Vipul Shah has been instrumental in a big way in making Akshay Kumar a super-star with hits like Aankhen, Waqt:The Race Against Time, Namastey London and Sing is Kinng, he is working for the first time with the super gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The movie is based on time travel where an old couple Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai reminisce about how they used to court each other in the 70s. So a major part of the movie revolves around the 70s ambience. Naturally both Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai sport a retro look. The high point of the film is a dance parody number which has both Akki and Ash dancing a la Saturday Night Fever of John Travolta.

In the movie, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai have donned with various outfits that befit the look of 70s. Aishwarya has really enjoyed working for the film, where she plays the part of an old lady and then in one song she has changed her costumes a good 125 times! “This is a surely record in Indian films with so many outfits in one song” beams Vipul Shah.

Akshay Kumar said, “It’s a very special film for me for many reasons. This is my tribute to the 70s that was the greatest retro era. I was kicked with the idea because I’m entering the time in cinema where my father-in-law was a superstar. It is my fifth film with Vipul and definitely another one to remember. Ash and I had a brief romantic interlude in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Khakee, but Action Replay is our first romantic comedy together. Believe me, I was blushing through the making and there’s a lot I wish to tell my audience about but Vipul wants me to keep things under wraps for the moment.”

The movie is basically a story of two characters, Kishen and Mala who are constantly arguing but finally end up rekindling their love on their 33rd wedding anniversary. “Akki and I have an impeccable box office record. For me it was an exciting experience because I could bring together Aishwarya and Akshay, a pair I had been wanting to cast for sometime now. They’re both good looking, super-talented and what’s more, they’re fashion icons as well. Akki has made an amazing screen pair with some of the existing girls but believe me, he and Ash are extra special,” Vipul Shah points out.
