Trisha Positive About Khatta Meetha

Reigning South Superstar, Trisha Krishnan is all set to make a debut in Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha. But unlike the grand launch  of the likes of Asin and  Genelia, Trisha’s launch is understated and the actress has no qualms about it.  Trisha says, “It’s my first Hindi film and I can’t expect to have everything that appeals to me. It’s definitely not a film where I am singing and dancing around trees. But it’s good enough for a launch and Priyan has projected me very well,

“Khatta Meetha”, which has Akshay Kumar in the lead, is a remake of 1988 Malayalam film “Vellanakalude Naadu”, which had superstar Mohanlal play the lead role. And Trisha says Akshay’s comedy is the “highlight” of the movie.”It’s the remake of a very, very old film he had done. I can’t reveal much…It’s a love story but Akshay’s comedy would be the highlight of the film. I think these days audiences are looking for a sensible film…” she said.

Khatta Meetha is the story about a struggling road construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar), who dreams big but it never come true because he has no money to pay bribes. To make matters worse, the new municipal commissioner turns out to be his ex-girlfriend (Trisha), who now hates him.”I am not doing comedy in the film; my role is pretty much serious. So it’s a very nice balance because Akshay plays a very funny guy,” Trisha said.

Trisha is very happy that Priyadarshan who launched her in “Laysa Laysa” (2002) prepares the road to Bollywood for her in the form of Khatta Meetha.

“Priyan launched me in the south. So we know each other and are family friends too. When he moved to Bollywood and started doing Hindi films, he had told me that we should do something together later and that he would call if something really interesting came up,” she said.

What about Hindi? Trisha laughs, “I can read and write Hindi very well. The only problem is living in the south, especially in Chennai, I had not been speaking Hindi for the last 10-15 years. But I think I’ve done 10-15 Telugu movies and I still don’t know the language at all. My Hindi is any day far better than that,” Trisha said.

Trisha is all thumbs-up for Mumbai right from the street food and the night life, to the people and their lifestyle.”I personally love the city and can’t get enough of it .I vow to visit it whenever time permits” adds Trisha.Says Trisha, “Mumbai truly never sleeps. It feels so safe to just take a stroll even in the middle of the night. I especially love binging on the street food here.”
