Sonam Kapoor has decided to be a part of Abbas-Mustan’s “The Italian Job”, that will go on floors in November 2010. She will be cast opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the film. Readers may note that the female lead was always a question mark as the ladies voluntarily dropped out of the project citing one reason or the other. Katrina Kaif reportedly quit unceremoniously, Priyanka Chopra refused as well citing she was busy on other projects and Deepika Padukone also gave the same reason. Sonam who was keen to take the film, was not allowed to do so by director Pankaj Kapur who has her as his heroine opposite his son Shahid Kapoor, in the film ‘Mausam’.
Confirming this, Sheetal Talwar, producer of Mausam, had said, “It’s true. Pankajji has asked Sonam not to sign any more films until Mausam is done. Her dates in November, when we suppose The Italian Job will start, are with us. There’s no question of date adjustment. I am sure Sonam understands the situation. We all adore her. She’s magical in front of the camera.”
But now all this changed, Sonam is back in The Italian Job. A source adds, “Sonam has been cast opposite Abhishek. She is very much doing the film. One doesn’t know what transpired behind the scenes, but Sonam is back on board.”
There are reports that Anil Kapoor may have intervened and asked Pankaj Kapur to let Sonam sign Italian Job while doing Mausam.
