Director Priyadarshan had decided to leave his trademark style of fun films, and switch to serious mode with a film like Aakrosh. However, the movie that was readied for an October 15 release has ran into censorship trouble.
The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has issued a show-cause notice to the producers of Aakrosh asking for nearly 30 cuts in the film. The production house, however, has refused to cut any of the scenes, as it believes that all of them are important in the movie. The examining committee of the censor board has found that there are certain scenes and dialogues in the films that are derogatory in nature and make offensive remarks against the CBI, certain castes, a particular community and women in general.
Aakrosh, is one of the most awaited films of 2010, since it is based on a novel topic of honor killings. It stars Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu, Paresh Rawal and Akshaye Khanna. With this movie, Priyadarshan hopes to start a new trend of serious issue based films.
