How Robot, Anjaana Anjaani and Khichdi Performed – Box Office Results

After the magical spell of Dabangg at the box office, there was a lull at the box office, as movie producers shied away from releasing their films due to the Ayodhya verdict. Finally on October 1, three movies had released: Anjaana Anjaani, Robot and Khichdi; all with three different set of themes. Let us find out how they have fared since the past week.

Robot’s South Indian version, Endhrian, has done exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. However, the Hindi version-Robot has performed above average in Mumbai and not so impressively in the northern parts of India.

Anjaana Anjaani, the Sajid Nadiadwala film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had a good opening in Mumbai and parts of North India, even doing better than Robot, in these places. However, the movie has slipped badly from Monday. On its opening weekend, Anjaana Anjaani made Rs.24 crore net but that slipped to just Rs.9 crore net on the following weekdays, making the total revenue come to Rs. 33 crore net. The Priyanka-Ranbir charm has worked mainly in the multiplexes and has done dismally at single screens. But the movie has already made profits, with investment recovered from satellite TV and music rights

Khichdi-The Movie is also a hit, as it has recovered its cost. It made Rs. 3.58 crore in its opening weekend and added Rs. 1.46 crore net on the successive weekdays. With the 1st week collection of Rs. 5.04 crore net, it is doing well in two places, Mumbai and Gujarat. Satellite rights and home video rights are only going to be the icing on the cake for the producer Aatish Kapadia.

Dabangg continues to still maintain a steady hold at the box office, adding Rs. 5 crore net in the fourth week, making the total revenue so far accumulated to be Rs. 137 cr. net.
