Madhur Bhandarkar Shelves Heroine

But we are sad to inform that Madhur has decided to shelve Heroine for good, as he was tired of the tantrums of its potential female lead, Kareena Kapoor. The actress had expressed her concerns on the steamy scenes in the film, and she had also asked the director to down the characterization of the protagonist.

Heroine was to be based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, and the story had her going to bed with two married men, like Marilyn did with the Kennedy brothers. This was not acceptable to Kareena since she herself is involved with Saif Ali Khan, who has been married earlier. Though there were speculations that Madhur had approached other actresses for the role, the source from the team rejects, “No. Madhur had only approached Kareena. She kept him waiting for six months. Now, Madhur has completely lose interest in the film. ”

The decision to shelve Heroine was taken last week after Madhur held a meeting with his them. “It was not an easy decision. There were a lot of ‘yes’ and ‘no’ between the guys. Finally Madhur decided to do away with Heroine altogether,” says the source.

Though Madhur has not confirmed this, he is now working on a male dominated script that he plans to direct after he finished Dil Toh Bachcha Hain Ji.
