Raima Sen Wants to Tone Down her Sex Scenes

The most talked about hot topic these days in Bollywood is a movie called ‘Mirch’ based on husband swapping, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Raima Sen among others. The four parallel stories that celebrates female sexuality has apparently, made Raima Sen, develop cold-feet after she saw the rushes of the film. She feels that she has bitten more than she could chew, and the scenes are more graphic and vulgar than what she had thought.

Raima did have strong inhibitions about shooting the film with her co-star Arunodoy Singh, the actor who starred opposite Sonam Kapoor in Aisha. Though she went and did it anyway, she feels that her act has gone too far. Raima feels that her mother will be shocked with her act because the intimate scenes are quite elaborate. Her male star Arunodoy, however feels that the scene is no big deal, as such.

The buzz is that Raima has asked director Vinay Shukla to tone down the sequence. The director had told her that the lovemaking scenes in the film were spruced up to make the story more interesting. Raima’s friend says that the girl was tricked into shooting the hot scene. It turned out to be lengthier than she had expected. Konkona Sen Sharma, the other actress also is contemplating reshooting her lovemaking scenes with Arunodoy.

The sequence of Konkana is such that her old, impotent husband Prem Chopra is sitting on a tree-top watching her having sex with Arunodoy. Raima was told that she would shoot the scene in a similar manner but thing turned out to be more provocative than what she had envisioned. Raima agrees that the scenes were reshot for her. “Yes, we did re-shoot the sequence on the director’s request. I’ve requested Vinayji to tone it down.”

Vinay, however, has no ideas about toning the scene down. He justified Konkona’s short scene and Raima’s lengthier one by saying ‘The earlier shot lacked the passion that was required for the scene. Konkona’s lovemaking scene is viewed from the subjective point of view of the king who is atop a tree. Going closer would have destroyed the credibility of the scene. But Raima’s scene is simply being played out. The length of it was required to build up the climax of the story.” Ahem!
