It is the clash of the titans again- The ‘baap’ of Bollywood will meet the ‘ace’ of Bollywood this Friday as Big B’s ‘Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap’ releases on the same day as Aamir Khan’s ‘Delhi Belly’. However in the latter, Aamir is largely behind the scenes as the producer but has developed the entire marketing concept and has also done a song as an ‘item boy’ in the film. Both movies look interesting and contrastingly different from the usual assembly line productions we have been seeing of late.
Both films have good marketing strategy in place and the high point of both the films is attention seeking dialogues. Delhi Belly has a trump card in the highly controversial ‘DK Bose’ song and has abusive language, double-meanings and raunchy lines galore targeted for the adult audience. In Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, the abuses have been beeped out but it is a pure treat for the Bachchan fan because you get to see most of his past successful avatars in the film.
Interestingly, both Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan cashed on a burning topic ‘the age limit for drinking in Maharashtra which was raised to 25’ which is seen as a strategy to keep their films in news. While Big B tweeted about the stupidity of increasing age limit for drinking, incessantly; Imran Khan after taking the advice of uncle Aamir, even went on to file a Public Interest Litigation on the ‘behalf’ of the youth in the country. Now, it remains to be seen which movie takes the lead this Friday on July 1, 2011 and thereon. Watch this space for more.
