Priyanka Chopra to do an Item Number

These days, every film wants to have an item number, a trend that has been heavily used after Munni Badnaam Hui (Dabangg) became the anthem of the nation, which was followed by the cult ‘Sheela Ki Jawaani’ featuring Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan. Even though TMK flopped badly, the Sheela number still gets many a whistle. Mallika Sherawat has also been sizzling the Btown of late with her moves in the ‘Razia’ song from Thank You; and ‘Jalebi Bai’ in Double Dhamaal. The guys are also not lagging behind, Aamir Khan did it for ‘Delhi Belly’ and Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Tain Tain Phissh’ for Chillar Party. Now to join the A-lister bandwagon is Priyanka Chopra, who will be doing an item number for Priyadarshan’s Tezz, an expensive thriller.

The sexy lady had previously done an item number with Shah Rukh Khan in Billu but that was not highlighted too much because there were other actresses like Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor doing the same. But Tezz that stars Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgan and Kangna Ranaut, will have Priyanka Chopra doing her solo item number this year. When Priyanka was asked in 2010 if she would ever do an item song, the girl had flatly denied, “I have never done one (item number), and I don’t think I will be doing one either.” Never say never, Piggy Chops would be thinking.

Actually, the actress had not been too serious about appearing in item songs because she’d always get thumping songs as the lead actress anyway. Unlike most other bitchy actress, Priyanka had no objection to Shilpa Shetty who had been approached to do the famous ‘Shut Up and Bounce’ number in Dostana. But now with item numbers being more popular than the films themselves, Priyanka seems to have changed her mind. She will soon hear the song.

“Ratan Jain, the producer has spoken to her secretary and Priyanka has shown keen interest in the item song as well,” revealed a source, talking about the dance number in Tezz, which might be the actress’ first ever solo item song. The song in question will be composed by Sajid-Wajid. As far as the costume is concerned, Priyanka Chopra will be having a sexy makeover and the dance will be interesting as Malaika Arora in the Munni song and Katrina Kaif in the Sheila number. The emphasis is also on a special set that will make the item number look grand and better than any other item song before.
