Celebrity photographer Gautam Rajadhyakasha died of cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was 61. Rajadhyakasha was known for his candid but photogenic portrayals of Bollywood personalities from Durga Khote to Aishwarya Rai. Shobhaa De, the noted author, who is also cousin to the late Rajadhyaksha tweeted about the loss.
Gautam was quite popular with the actresses specially Aishwarya Rai and Kajol. Aishwarya Rai sent a condolence message saying, “I am saddened by this news. He was such a loving, special person. Deep condolences to his family. May his soul Rest in Peace. He will be missed!” Kajol stated, “Gautam was my friend, my grandfather… and just my family. I respected, admired and loved him. It is a personal loss that I will have to cope with in my own time and space.” Lots of Bollywood actors, directors and film-makers tweeted, expressing shock at the sudden demise of the person who was much loved in the industry.
Family members said that Gautam was fine till 3.30 and suddenly he had a heart attack, after which he died at 4.30. Veteran photographer Jagdish Mali said he was a cool, secure person and would know to make everyone feel special, with no vices like smoking or drinking. Ace lensman Dabboo Ratnani said that he was his guru and he welcomed everyone and never looked at anyone as competition. Shobhaa De wrote, “Gautam’s soft-focus photography style was unique and his artistic personality was unmatched. It was a privilege for people to get photographed by him.He mentored several budding photographers. There will be only one Gautam.”
